Final Tree Construction
photos taken October 7, 2009

I have two shades of foliage for the trees.
One is bright green, the other a more subdued shade of green.
The tall tree that is  on the left of the photo has a combination of the two shades.
I'm not sure that I like the combination very much.

After studying the above photo, I decided to construct the trees with one shade of green per tree.
As you can see, I was able to make three trees with the bright green today.
The subdued green trees will be constructed tomorrow.
The two trunks visible in the middle of the photo will obviously need construction.
There is also a tree just out of sight to the very left that will also be constructed.
After these trees have been completed, I can continue adding foliage behind the fences
as well as at the top of the "T".
The end feels so much closer and it feels great to have come this far in a project so huge.

This is a close up of how the stalks of foliage were wired to the support structure.
The background panels were removed and heavy duty staples were strategically placed
to hold the wires that wrapped around the stalks.
The background panels were replaced before the stalks were wired into place.

Yes, we had our first snowfall today.
It's -4 C at the moment with a heavy wind, making it feel like -12 C.
The photo of the courtyard was taken on the walkout patio just outside the Village room.

Yesterday was a combination painting and tree construction day.
The light grey mortar on the stone path was too light, so I painted over it with a darker grey.
While I was at it, the rocky area below the path was also repainted.
Two of the last three trees were constructed yesterday as well.
This morning, I wired up the last tree and began stuffing foliage behind the fences.
You can see the last tree on the very left of the photo.
I also test painted an area at the top of the "T" that you can see.
The colour is much too light and bright, and I will have to find a darker colour of no-gloss paint.
I'm running out of foliage and will have to make another dollar store run very soon.
Oh!  And that's me sitting in the Village in my very loose and comfortable work clothes.
Look closely and you can see various colours of Village paint on the pants.
